Making Waves for a Cause: Becci Completes 10K Swim for Alzheimer’s Research UK

Tutor Becci- Swim for Alzheimer's

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement by our tutor Becci, who completed the “Swim the Distance” challenge this April, swimming an impressive 10 kilometres and raising over £200 in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. 🏊‍♀️💙

Taking on this challenge required not only physical endurance but also deep dedication to a cause that affects so many families across the UK. Well done, Becci!

Why This Matters

Dementia is a growing health crisis in the UK, with almost 1 million people currently living with the condition. Whether you have personal experience or know someone who has been diagnosed, dementia can feel overwhelming, especially with no cure currently available and many unanswered questions surrounding the disease.

Here are a few facts to consider:

Almost 1 million people in the UK have dementia.

There are more women than men living with dementia.

While people over 75 are more likely to be affected, younger people can get dementia too.

Understanding Dementia

We all forget things from time to time, misplacing keys, forgetting a name, but that doesn’t necessarily mean someone has dementia.

Dementia is more than occasional forgetfulness. It’s a progressive condition, meaning symptoms gradually get worse and begin to interfere with everyday life.

Every Stroke Counts

Becci’s efforts remind us that small actions, like signing up for a charity challenge, can have a big impact. Not only do they raise vital funds, but they also help bring attention to important issues like dementia.

Congratulations again to Becci for swimming 10K and supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK!
