The Level 3 Extended Certificate in the Creative Music Industry is designed for aspiring music producers, artists, DJs and creatives who want to develop practical production skills while gaining a recognised qualification.

Through a studio-focused learning environment, learners will develop technical skills in music production while building an understanding of how music is created, distributed and monetised in today’s digital landscape.

The qualification carries UCAS points, providing a clear pathway into higher education, apprenticeships or employment within the music and creative industries.

This programme is ideal for individuals looking to take the next step in developing their music production skills while working towards a recognised industry qualification.

No previous formal qualifications in music production are required.

QUALIFICATION & PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will achieve the Level 3 Extended Certificate in the Creative Music Industry, awarded by RSL Awards.

This nationally recognised qualification carries UCAS points, providing learners with a pathway into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment within the music and creative industries.

Learners may progress to but not limited to:

  • University degrees in Music Production, Audio Engineering, Music Business or Creative Media
  • Apprenticeships within the music, audio and media sectors, such as Assistant Recording Technician or Audiovisual Technician roles
  • Employment opportunities within recording studios, live events, broadcasting, media production or the wider music industry
  • Independent careers as music producers, DJs, artists or content creators

The qualification provides a strong foundation for individuals looking to develop their creative skills while keeping future education and career pathways open.

Once enrolled Learners will receive their timetable and an overview of what the next 24 weeks look like 30 hours per week typically split with 15 hours on site (2 ½ days) and 15 hours of self-study / revision This structure allows learners to combine guided studio learning with independent creative development, helping them build a strong portfolio of production work.

LEARN ABOUT

The course consists of a core production unit alongside specialist studio and sound engineering modules.

CORE UNIT

Music Sequencing and Production: Introduction to digital music production, sequencing techniques and creating complete musical compositions using professional production software.

SPECIALIST MODULES

Studio Audio Mastering: Learn how to prepare and finalise audio for release using professional mastering techniques.

Analogue Synthesis: Explore the foundations of sound design and synthesis using analogue and digital synthesisers.

Recording Studio Sound:  Develop an understanding of studio recording techniques, microphones, signal flow and studio environments.

Using a Dynamic Processor: Learn how compression and dynamic processing are used in mixing and production.
