What started in March 2023 as “just a bunch of women having a laugh” has become something much more. Aston Village Ladies FC is now a strong, close-knit football family. Their journey proves that passion, perseverance, and teamwork can rewrite any story.
A Season of Growth and Grit
Under the leadership of their dynamic captain, Terri, the team has made huge strides. Their first season was tough, with just two wins. However, they’ve now turned the page and embraced a new chapter, one filled with ambition and belief.
With regular Tuesday training sessions and a renewed focus on performance, they kicked off the current season with a confidence-boosting win.
Moreover, their hard work paid off at the Adam Redfern Memorial Fund Competition, where they faced teams from all levels of women’s football. They finished third overall, a huge milestone and a moment of pride.
“It’s phenomenal how far they’ve progressed,” said one of the coaches. “They’ve gone from just turning up to truly showing up.”
Inspired by the Lionesses, and Each Other
The team draws strength from national heroes like the Lionesses, and from role models such as Ella Brennan, who has represented England in futsal. Their success has inspired grassroots teams like Aston Village Ladies to aim higher, on and off the field.
But it’s not just about football. This team has built a vibrant community. Women of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds come together to find fitness, friendship, and empowerment.
