Running for a Cause: Blue Lion Tutor Nik Barber Takes on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Guide Dogs UK
Supporting a Cause That Matters: Nik’s Run for Guide Dogs UK
At Blue Lion Training Academy, we’re proud to celebrate not only our learners and partners, but also the incredible team members who go above and beyond to support meaningful causes.
On 6th April, our tutor Nik Barber will take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of Guide Dogs UK.
A Personal Mission
Nik’s commitment to Guide Dogs UK runs deep. Over the years, he has fostered two guide dogs in training. Today, he’s caring for a future guide dog puppy preparing for its vital role.
For Nik, this isn’t just a charity, it’s personal. His efforts reflect a firm belief in the life-changing impact these remarkable dogs have on people with sight loss.
Why It Matters
Every day in the UK, 250 people begin to lose their sight, joining over 2 million already affected. By 2050, that number is expected to double.
That’s why the work of Guide Dogs UK is so vital. They don’t just provide trained guide dogs, they also offer essential support services to individuals and families navigating life with vision loss.
“Guide Dogs have been a huge part of my life for years now. Running 13.1 miles is a challenge, but nothing compared to the impact these dogs make every single day.”
– Nik Barber
About the Run
Nik’s route covers 13.1 miles through iconic parts of Westminster and the City of London. It’s his longest race to date!
Supporters are encouraged to cheer from the official Guide Dogs Cheering Point at Mile 12 (Tooley Street, Jamaica Road & Tanner Street junction). It’s a great place to give Nik and other runners that final motivational boost.
How You Can Help
Guide Dogs UK relies on donations to continue their transformative work. Your support can make a real difference.
